Hi, I’m Kate Herrera, a Hispanic American multidisciplinary designer based in St. Louis, Missouri. I have a background in architecture and graphic design, and currently freelance in environmental graphic design, with a focus on wayfinding and spatial storytelling. My work explores how people navigate and experience spaces, using visual systems to create clarity, connection, and a strong sense of place.
I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from Washington University in St. Louis, where I also studied Communication and Graphic Design. This foundation enables me to approach projects with both spatial and visual awareness, balancing form and function with a human-centered perspective.
I’m especially interested in:
-
Environmental graphic design and wayfinding systems
-
Spatial navigation and user experience in the built environment
-
Blending 2D and 3D design approaches
-
Creating intuitive, accessible, and emotionally grounded experiences
Outside of design, I spend time doodling in my sketchbook and observing everyday environments, drawing inspiration from local markets, city textures, and daily routines. I am continuously expanding my body of work and seeking opportunities to collaborate on projects that prioritize clarity, intention, and human experience, while also developing new skills in areas such as motion design in After Effects.
